Brice Canyon

The central part of Brice Canyon and the hills in the distance. Smaller than Grand Canyon and therefore easier to see and walk into, is Brice Canyon just north of the Grand Canyon North Rim in Utah. It is only one half of a canyon, a steep cliff, the other side is formed by rolling hills. But its rock formations are, if possible, more colorful, and a walk down to its bottom can be made in half a day. — I prefer Brice to Grand Canyon. These pictures wer taken in 1981 on our Southwest trip with Cornelius and three German children.

Eroded rocks on its southern end. The plateau is wooded and very tranquil.

A view of the far mountains across the canyon.

Colorful rock formations at the southern end.

As the time of day and the light changes the rocks begin to glow....

Center of the of the northern end of the canyon and the pasth we took down.

The four boys on a the walk down into the canyon.

The soft terrain at the bottom of the canyon....

The rocks of the escarpment from below.

 Way up....
