Gemäldegallerie 2001

The Gemäldegallerie in the Kulturforum at the Potsdamer Platz houses the collection of Old Masters (13th to 18th cent) of the former Preussischer Kulturbesitz. Its nearly 2000 paintings(!) are exemplarily organized in a modern building built 1998 for this purpose with special rooms for integrated subjects under indirect ceiling lights etc. - The quality of the pictures is very high - a daunting task to see. - We spent 2 hours there beween 8 and 10 pm. The place was completely empty – except for the knowledgeable and friendly guards - who had at the time nothing to do.
